Unhappy Im finally letting go. It was fun while it lasted.

Ok everyone, I talked to my Dad for a long time today about all of our RX-7s. We decided to get rid of them, except for my "shell" from the theft, and a suspension setup from an -SE for it for a future project, but I think Ive decided that its time to just let go of it all, so everything we have for RX-7s is for sale, including the shell of my old car in my sig. Theres practically nothing left, so it may just end up going to the yard. This is definatly one of the hardest things Ive had to do, and I dont know why...Its only a car...Right? Its funny to think back to when I made my first post about my Dads -SE so long ago it seems, and you guys all helped me out. Youve given me advise on everything from cars to my life, and thats what makes this forum and RX-7 owners so great. I dont plan on leaving the forum, but Im not going to have an RX-7 for a while again I dont think. I just cant afford to do anything with what Ive got, and the county says theyve gotta go. Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know. If youre interested in anything I might have for sale, theres ads in the For Sale sections, the NW section, and I think I even posted a link here.

That really sucks you have to get rid of all your stuff. You could sell off everything you have now, and use that $ to buy one in good shape.

Well, there isnt one nice one to keep, thats why theres so many. They were all kinda parts cars to mix and match with. I wanted to keep my 83 (the one in my sig) for obvious emotional connections being the first car of my own, but it needs SO MUCH work and money I dont have. I dont mind the interior work, or the engine work, but it needs doors, and fenders, and thats just a pain in the *** to deal with, and paint, yadda yadda. Plus, its gonna be forever and a day before it every sees any money towards it and we have no place to keep it. Im still on the fence, but as of right now, it looks like Im saying goodbye to it.

I actually went a good number of years without an Rx-7 after owning a few.

Come back someday when you can't take it anymore, someone will have a nice affordable one for ya. In time you'll forget what the interior of your old one even looked like

Same here.

TJ, you need to ride in a properly boosted Rex 1st, before giving up.

If you could still give up then, Then, (and only then) will it truly be over.

It gets tiresome trying to make a good car out of a bunch of wreck cars. Keep your eyes open for a low mileage 7 with only 2 problems (any more probably means infinity). Like, say, howling transmission and fender ding. I picked up a nice 85GSL with 49k, one ding and a carb hesitation, 2 years ago and it's my daily driver. A real gem. Just keep your eyes open.

Remember: only two problems to a car.

Letting go?

While I hate to hear you are bailing on your 7, I would be interested in taking a look at what you have...especially if any have black interior AND a sunroof. I'm REALLY close to your location too. Let me know, send me a private email with phone # and I'll call you.

Sell it all and get an FD.

Wait that would be going to opposite direction of where you need to go.

My advice, sell them, buy a nice 280ZX. My mom bought hers used and it ran for quite awhile until i wrecked it.

Ewww, don't get the ZX, unless you want a heavy touring car. Get a 280z, much better feel than the 280zx and it's still EFI.

****. it all started when you had to leave your car on the side of the road. smart move TJ, un-load all and on to bigger and better things. always forward. the car may be gone but you can't get rid of the people/friends and knowledge you've gained from that little car. any future cars will be a breeze. your right, it is just a car and there are much more important milestones to come. face them head-on
be responsible, fair, and loving. don't work yourself to death, remember to have lots of fun.try to stay as healthy as you can. try to see as much of this big blue ball we all call home.. See 'ya around TJ ...........

TJ, I'm really sorry to hear that you have to sell it all off. Somehow though I don't think this is the last of we'll hear from you and Rx7s! It can be hard sometimes to let go for a bit, but there's always a chance that down the road you'll get back on your feet and get into another Rx7 project. I think I can speak for most of the guys here (the ones that know you at least) when I say that we've enjoyed having you around, and although I'm sure you'll try to stick around, it's still sad to see a guy have to give up his 7s. Especially after actually having tracked down your stolen car man! I mean stolen cars are *never* found, that was some awesome sleuthing!

We will all be here for you if and when you take up another seven, in the meantime I hope you'll stick your head in and hang with us from time to time.

I didn't want to ruin this post by asking for a part I need, so I wrote it to you (or will write it to you) in a seperate PM.

I'm sure you'll find your 7s good homes. Try to give one to a friend, so that you can help him with it, stay in the loop, and maybe buy it back someday

Jon

Yeah, I really wanted to keep my 7 around after finding it and all, but it just doesnt seem like its worth it. I just have no place to keep them all is the problem. If it was up to my Dad and I, I could keep it at his house indefinatly, but the county says no way.

Oh, and DirectFreak, youre right, I do need a ride in a good boosted 1st gen 7, problem is I dont know anyone local who has one, lol. I really really really want a turbo 1st gen, but no money makes that difficult, so its time to let go until Im in a better place finacially. Hell, Im STILL paying for parts that got stollen on my last 7.
