Iguess fuel pump relay WASN'T the problem!

This is the reoccuring problem with my 84 GSL, She will start right up on the first try, then die 30 seconds later from lack of fuel. If I pour fuel directly in the carb it will run until that fuel is burned off. About two weeks ago I cut one of the wires on the fuel pump relay and that seemed to solve the problem. But, yesterday it did the same thing again. I use this car every day and don't have the tme to work on it EVERY FRIGGIN DAY ! Any ideas would be most appreciated.

what have you checked so far? i would first change the fuel filter, and then check the fuel pump itself.

Do you have the fuel pump rigged up to run when the key turns on?

yep, sounds just like the fuel filter. My father had the same problem with his 7, after we changed out the fuel filter (it was pouring dark brown sludge) she fired right up and never had that problem again.
