Ignitor Woes

Well im pretty sure my trailing ignitor is almost shot. Ive found that in 5th gear, the tach jumps around alot, and i get some running issues, in 4th its done it once, but all other gearsw its fine. Thats why im kinda confused. Seems like it would do it in all gears all the time, not just in 5th all the time. Im running a MSD ignition box through my ignitor(white wire) and im going to assume thats helping it go to ****. Question, still ok to drive it, i have next to no time to go and get a new ignitor. I could always just use the purple and green wires i believe to bypass the ignitor. Next question. Is it safe to drive my car to school and back tomorrow with the ignitor acting up, i dont really have time to fix it tonight. Any help would be great.

Should not hurt a thing to use it like that, MY 79 does not like to idle when the trailing is acting up but that is all.

ps Wed3k has severl ignitors for sale in the sale forum, he was asking like $10 each on them.

Would it be difficult for you to hook up the green and purple wires? It's the prefered method if you've got an '80 or later (electronic) dizzy.
