Ignition Timing Problem
Ignition Timing Problem
Decided to timing the other day, never done it on a rotary though. Car is running fine. When checking the timing I found that it was 90degrees advance. Dizzy slot is smack in the middle. Is this correct?

"Just flip that pulley..."
Said as if it were easy. I had that problem once and found it was easier to just measure the circumference of the pulley, divide by 4, and paint on new marks as appropriate. Works for me.
I think that ambiguity problem only existed for a year or two when the pulley wasn't keyed.
I'd still like to know how to static-time the ignition.

It wasn't until the 2nd gens came out, that the pulley could be installed one way. This was done by off seting one of the 4 holes. All of these pulleys also have an tiny circle stamped on the pulley face so the multiple pulleys are easily lined up.
The circle is the only key, no woodruffs here.
