Ignition Question 80 style

I have a 79 that has been changed to the 80 stye ignition. The box the ignitors are bolted to has circut board in it. what does the board do?

It turns off trailing under certain conditions to keep the exhaust rich enough to continue to burn inside the thermal reactor.

How stock is the rest of your engine?

So I just need to take it out and run the pickups direct to the ignitor?
