Ignition help needed!!!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi All I am a newbie on this sight.
I have a GT3 RX3 I need tech help with, I was running a Dual Distributor bridgeport 12a and have just installed a single distributor bridgeport 12a. My old ignition system consistited of a dual dist. run with Crane xr700 ignitions with optical pickups, the leading dist also had a MSD6AL on it. The new engine has a stock distributor with stock mazda ignitors, but I have no connector plugs for the ignitors. How do I hook this thing up? Do I need to obtain stock ignitor connectors to connect to the coils? Does the stock distributor connect the same way the crane units did?
Some one help!

You don't need those stock connectors, but they're handy. What I used were a pair of female stereo connectors that fit over the spade terminals on the ignitor. I think I have a pic of it somewhere...
Take a look at the trailing ignitor (top) and you'll see what I did. It isn't pretty, but it works.
As for the Crane stuff, I have no experience with that, sorry.

Hi Henry, glad you found your way here ok. Unless you have a definite reason not to (racing class, etc.), you might want to upgrade a little here rather than just returning the ignition to stock.
Take a look in the FAQ section and you will find instructions on how to use a 2nd gen leading coil pack to handle the leading ignition. This is a nice, cheap, and easy upgrade. You will still need to install the stock ignitors on the dizzy, but after that installation of the coil pack is pretty straight forward.
