Ignition Coils, anything special??

I was just wondering if the coils on the rx7 are anything special. Can they be replaced with HO aftermarket coils. Has anyone done this and did you see any gains? I have an 84 GSL-SE, just looking for ways to keep it lean.

lots of folks have replaced the stock coils, but they probably will not show any improvement over stock, unless the stock ones bad.
