Igniter question

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm new to rotary engines and my Haynes manual isn't very helpful...

In an '83 12A (carburetored), where are the igniters located, what do they look like, what do they do, and why do they cost so darn much to replace?

Thanks.
David

They are on the side of the distributor and your best bet is to go to the junkyard to get replacements. You can also retrofit GM ignitors. Search for ignitors or HEI or GM to see what I'm saying.

Welcome to forum. Also see the FAQ as it may answer your question better.
