HOLY ****! (excuse the lingo)

i finally got my car to run like it just came off the lot!!!! AHHHHHHAHHAHAHAH WOOHOOOO! all it was is that stupid port air switch hose that runs off the rear side of the intake manifold up to the carb. the whole time i have had my car it must have had a hole in it. only just recently it got bigger cause driving i would hear a loud whistle from the engine bay. hahaha, took it off, replaced it and NIGHT AND DAY difference! my brakes work perfectly, i have low end torque, decelerates with no jerking OR POPPING, i can come out of first without revving up to damn 2 grand, when i come to a stop it doesnt even hint of wanting to die, when i turn the headlights on it doesnt surge or drop rpms at all, and best of ALL!!!!!!!!!...... it idles FORKIN PERFECTLY!!!! all because of this ONE DAMN HOSE!!!! AHHHHH! CHECK YOURS NOW! hahahaha, thx guys,

That's the anti-afterburn hose and yes, it's a typical killer.

does the gslse have the anti-afterburn hose as well? My car has been idling a bit high(1000-1100) once in a while. No other problems with the car. The only thing I did to the car recently was to wire the acuators open.

wiring your actuators open may be causing it. your ecu is seeing more air come in possibly and compensating by increasing the idle rpm. On another note, is it possible to BLOCK OFF the anti-afterburn valve openings??? i noticed when i had the car running and i completely removed it from the intake side my car shut off within a milisecond. so i just replaced the hose, but i'm wondering since i have no emission related pieces on my car at all, do i need that? ahhaha

Aparently you can take it off.... and aparently this is a common problem... I just wish it was *my* problem... grr... well my carb and it's related tubes are half-off now... I'm still trying to track that damn leak....

Glad that your car's working though

The anti-afterburn hose is pretty stupid because it is close to the exhuast and that is why it develops a leak from all the heat it gets. A lot of people don't realize this for a long time and get frustrated with their Rx-7's. Many dollars are probably spent on other things before they realized what it was in the first place. Damn glad I don't use the stock crap carb any more. Too darn many hoses in stock form. Many things can be blocked off and save a lot of trouble searching for problems.
