I just ordered a factory certified 2 row with a lifetime warrenty from Radiators.com for $124 shipped!!!

 

What good is a lifetime of insufficient cooling capacity ? 3 row or bust.

 

all the 83-85 cars have the tall 2 row rad. The short 3 row is a 79-82 thing, I'd say the difference in height would make up for the lack of an extra row. I have a short 3 row in both my 83's cause i've swapped to the earlier style oil cooler, but thats beside the point...

 

No doubt.The first row does the most cooling,so more surface area is always better than more thickness,...except if your really tight on space, like me.

 

Yep. And if you get a rebuild, there is the higher efficiency fins option, too.

I just finished doing a lot of research on this for my car. It depends. For a universal radiator that you have to figure out how to mount, about $180. For one that you take out of the box and bolt in, about $600. For the first option, try griffinrad.com.

I got mine from Howe.If you can handle your own mounting,they have very good customer service and very well made radiators.I faxed my dimensions on Moday and had it in my hands Thursday morning,from Michigan to CA.
I used one of their race,dual pass cores and had them add a heater hose port and a bung for the low coolant sensor.Its compact and thick,but the dual pass design allows plenty of time for the coolant to shed heat.About $280 I think,it was a few years ago.Mounting was easy with some aluminum sheet and large rivits.The bottom sits in rubber pads,directly on the "frame" rails.Nice and high up,protected.Plus the scoop on the bottom forces air up into the core from below the airdam so its nice and cold/high pressure.

Did you get the rad yet? i've heard that sometimes those guys are very slllloooooowwww, and I need one for my 85GSL. Incidentally, a local guy did a great job of rodding and re-soldering my 74REPU rad.

Yep, got it in 2 days. One problem! It had a leak, they sent me one next day. Good people.

i used a generic two row Chevy style aluminum radiator.

its 22x19in and cost me $82

Aluminum radiator, you say? Howe is the ****. Howe is so awesome, it whips out it's 18" ***** and slaps every other radiator maker or seller in the face with it, and they have a dick imprent permanently on their face.

More to the point, the welds are bitchin', the radiator is straight-gangsta bling-bling, and it cools like an eskimo's nuts. Lastly, they're only like $300, drill four holes pop on a cap and ba-bam, you've got a radiator that sweats like a ***** in church.
