Idle Surging?

I just had my clutch replaced, got it back today and for some reason it's surging at idle, BUT only when i have the clutch OUT and in neutral.
When i push the clutch in i don't get the stumble. When i have the clutch in, if i give it a little gas it's goes away. I've never had this problem before, this just started today.
I thought it was my TPS since i adjusted that last week, rechecked it today and it was off, so i readjusted but it did nothing. Any suggestions??

First off, what year and model. You say you had it replaced? What did they forget to hook up. There are a couple of wires down there some are for emissions and crap, maybe one is swapped. What about around the top of the motor, maybe they pulled something off there, vac line or something. Need more info...

Surging is a very common problem, and if someone had to remove anything during the clutch replacement (shouldn't have...) then you may need to start back at 'Square 1' and troubleshoot the issue.

There is a good write up with links in the 1st Gen FAQ (posted at the top of the forum), or you can choose to search.

We (the SE owners) have spent a lot of time talking about what it takes to keep an SE idling smoothly, and not surging during cold weather. HTH,

yes i know as i have read every new post that i can get my eyes on since sept including that cold weather posts. As i said this was nothing sparatic, it seemlesly happened exactly after i got it back. I did notice today that sometimes it surged and sometimes it didn't, ie. coming to a stoplight. What i am thinking is possibly i have a vacuum leak that is causing my idle to change, which in turn is affecting my TPS adjustment throwing it out of wack? Right now it's idling right betweek 100 above and under a grand (yes i know its off.)

Surging useally means some extra air getting in the system unexpected or the BAC valve not being able to respond quick enough to the changed environment. Im sure youve seen this http://www.nellump.net/peri/epi/firs...gslseIdle.html
Ive went through this systematically and it really helped (mine still surges but I noticed a small tear on my phenalic plate in between the throttle body and dynamic chamber where the air chanels are). Sometimes, unless you already have, taking your time and starting from ☺ 1 is the way to go. I feel your frustration but youll get it. Search the car and check every vac line, chace wires to make sure the right ones are in the right place etc, dont just look around the tranny flange go 18 inches both directions, you will find it sooner or later. Cruise line ok, throttle cable? Just shooting in the dark, trying to help. Here is the TPS test light thread too. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ps+for+dummies
