Arrow The idle speed

Hey guys i just got my 84 RX-7 and it had a carb issue because the guy that had it before me got a carb rebuild kit and put everything backwards, so i guess he messed up the idle and the carb is strange because it's not the same one as in the repair manual, so i found the screw that controls the air, but i cant find the one for the mixture of fuel, which in the reapir manual it says that is under the air one, but the mixture one is not there, i need help, my car is idleling at 3000rpms and is annoying as hell and is eating up my gas. if anyone can help please, i need it. Thanx guys

You don't adjust the mixture screw. There is a idle screw for idle speed adjustment. But before you go off half cocked verify that you do not have a vacuum leak. Vacuum leaks can and do cause low and high idle issues.

Here is the link for the factory service manuals. You will find the carb manual there also. Recommend that you go through it and make sure everything is hooked up correctly.:-)

Hey Doc, I'm just wondering, do you have these links saved to like a word page so you can instantly post them or do you just do a quick search and find what your looking for?

I just go to trochoids profile and copy and paste. If you want you can copy and paste and put it on your signature so it is always there. :-)

Thats not a bad idea. I may just do that and put them in a word doc file on my computer, like I do with other things I need that are RX-7 related.

The same thing happened to me, I turned out that my 1980 rx7 had a 1984 Nikki carb on it. So yours might be the same way, Because on the '80 carb manual it showed the fuel mixture screw under the air one, but the '84 carb was different and didnt have it that way, so look through the manuals that were linked on the above posts by Rx7 doctor and look at different years of carbs and you might can find your on one.

newbie here - does anyone have a pic of where the choke connects to the carb? i've looked at the carb manual and the fsm but it is unclear from those (or to me looking at them) how the choke connects. my choke cable is dangling free and i can't get the rx to stay on, so i would like a working choke. the current end of the choke cable has what looks like a threaded bolt to go into a hole but i can't figure out which one it goes into. any help would be much appreciated. thanks to all. it is an 82.

I found the other screw on the other side of the carb...the manual showed one below the other like you said but on my 82-83 they were on opposite sides...also somewhere in the archives is a good write up on how to adjust the Nikki...good luck!!

The mixture screw on the other side(passenger side) is the high speed mixture IIRC
