Idle issue ( won't go low, won't go high)

I am having an idle issue...

I just finished putting my modified nikki on my 83. (it has mech secondaries and all the 'usless' junk removed.) While I was putting it on I decided to remove the rats nest. kinda a two for one deal.

The glorious thing is that even it being -20 outside I got it to start with very little convincing, however there is still a problem.....

The idle will not drop below 1100 with the idle adjust full out. And even with the primaries and secondaries wide open the RPM won't go over 4000-4500...

I am stuck and need your help!

You missed something and have a vacuum leak somewhere.

With the number of people removing the rat's nest, then having these types of issues, I'm starting to wonder if the tutorial may have something missing...

i removed my rats nest using the mazspeed tutorial. and i have had no issues. it idles just fine. so i'm guessing you missed something when stripping the carb.

So I rebuilt the old stock carb and put it back on the rex. No start... So I wet to go reset the timing. The distributer is ceased to the engine... the inside turns like it is supposed to, but you cant actually spin or remove the distributor... I have WD'd the **** out of it and whacked it with a hammer, pried with a screw driver, but no luck. Anyone got any amazing crazy idea's for removing it that won't destroy the engine or damage the body of the rex?
