idle compensator ?s

my car does nto have a/c and when i was removing my rats nest and re hooking up my vaccum lines i realized i really didnt need to hook up my idle compensator deal since i dont have a/c but i did it anyways, question is is there anyway i could hook this thing up to turn the idle up a bit when the electrical system goes under a heavy load? i.e headlights, electric fan, subwoofer....etc.

is it possible or should i just take the thing out.

heres what i was talking about

ya that thing what ever you call it lol

Interesting idea. You could hook the solenoid up as before but have it triggered from a switch in the dash, or maybe the trigger wire from the amp.

The black one is ground, and I don't remember the other colour but it will be +12v. There are three nozzles on the solenoid, one common and the other two are switched. With no power, the solenoid will flow air through the common (nozzle #1) and one of the nozzles (say nozzle #2), giving it +12V will flow through the common (nozzle #1) and the alternate nozzle (nozzle #3).

Good luck

FWIW, The idle compensator is a thermostat valve inside the air cleaner; the thing you have circled in the upper right is the throttle opener.

Throttle opener only originally worked with the AC.

Sounds to me like you don't need it, no.

With a bit of adjustment and a dash mounted switch you could use it as an electronic choke
