idle carb problems?

idle carb problems?

1985 gsl 12a all stock.. the car wont idle unless i pull out the choke so its at about 1500 rpms?... i checked for vacum leaks but havent found any..any ideas?

I am quite unknowledgable in this, but try the idle screw. Someone with more experience can pipe in.

I would adjust the idle first. the 85GSL carb has the idle screw on the bottom left.

Rear right if your looking at it from the driver seat. Its a flat head screw looks solid with no threads.

I am having the exact same problem now. a mechinac said the carb needed to be rebuilt ,Idid that but the problem exist. I dont believe adjusting the idling up is going to help. Itried that already , no help on that. I havent found an answer on this yet, if I find an answer to this problem ill let you know if you find something let me know thanks.

Have you adjusted the idle mixture as well as the idel speed?

same thing

Yea i got a base model 83 FB and i had the same problem i noticed if you leave the choke out let the car warm up then pop the hood when look at the driver side of the carb. theres a single screw back it out until the engine runs smooth I i noticed if you turn it in the motor begin to hurt..
