What the hell, i posted something and it didn't post it... Went back to post an actually message, and it did the same damn thing..... Well anyways.

I have rust holes in the tire wells of my SE. On my GSL i used a combination of steel plates and fiber glass to remedy the problem. Is there a better way to go about this?

Cutting out the old and welding in new is the only intelligent way to fix this. Fiberglass, bondo, all that crap is not only a temporary patch that WILL come back to haunt you, it's also a safety risk. These cars are unibody and rely on the strength of all the steel in the bodyshell to support it. Make a small square of 3/4" inch think bondo and hit it with a hammer. Do the same with a 1/4" thick sheet of steel. There's your answer...

The only problem is the design of the metal back there. The outer and inner sheets don't rust, but the inside goes to hell. I would end up cutting out most if not all of the tirewell, and i can't weld for ****... But i don't want a temporary fix... man, im screwed....

Body shop should be able to do it for $100-$200.
Worked for me!

Yes.. if you can't do it yourself, find a competent bodyshop who can do it. Look around and make sure they actually have a welder though, as I've seen quite a few patch jobs done that are quickly painted over and look like metal for about 6 months. Then the bodno cracks and wrinkles and, surprise the rust is back and even worse. If you do take it to a bodyshop, ask to see it after it's welded, but before they paint over it.. just in case.. and take a magnet along, too..
