Ok so what happens if i remove the thermal reactor, replacing it with a RB header, also deleting the first 2 cats or just 1? Any downside? any higher chance of backfire? what do i do with the 2 hoses going from there to the air intake snorkel?

if your 7 has a thermal reactor, you have no converters. the thermal reactor was only on the 79-80 model year 7's

wow, why so much work to blow flames. remove the smog pump and get a header, and a free flowing exhaust. the SE should do it no problem. and I do beleave you have secondary injectors. but IDK the SE. I know all secound gens have secondarys. also you can wire open your 6 port that may help.

SEs have only 2 injectors. Best way to shoot flames is adding headers. a straight through pre-silencer/glass pack, run it up to 7k rpms, let off the throttle till it drops back to 4k then floor it again.

S3 engines do NOT have secondaries....that is why they don't produce flames...

did this thread really need to make it to two pages?

Can you just increase the fuel pressure to make it richer?

Shooting flames is not really needed. There. Problem solved.

Now you can invest that effort into actual improvements.

i used to have headers straight piped to an ebay muffler and it was LOUD...but i never got pulled over (ran like that for about 1.5 months). now i have headers to a pre-silencer (unknown brand) to a ractive straight through muffler and it's fairly quiet and i think it sounds quite beefy for a stock 12a.

Mmm sounds interesting.. how loud is it now? can you post a vid? will be a good help for me since i want to decide which way to go. So you have headers to a resonator and an oval muffler? what's the size of the pipe all the way? thx!

the thermal reactor WAS the exhaust manifold on 79-80 7's. the 79-80 RX-7 had no converters. what you think is a converter is the heat exchanger. what year is your 7? any way you can post a pic of your exhaust?

My 7 is a 79'.. i just took some pics.. pic 1 is the thermal reactor i think.. the red arrow shows a small pipe that goes into pic 2 ( the one that shows a resonator like thing).. and then pic 3 is showing a small pipe next to my muffler.. that comes all the way from the thermal reactor..what is it?

Update!! there no 2 or 3 cats like i said lol,, i only see the thermal reactor and that small heat exchanger??

i don't have a camera that would take vid, and my cellphone will make it sound really shitty...the pipe is a 2.5in diameter. as stated before, i'm not sure about resonator make but the whole exhaust came off an 83 rx7 and it has held pretty well in my car too meaning it hasn't burnt up yet but it doesn't look like the RB either. the muffler is by RACTIVE it looks like this except stainless steel:http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=1707

i'll see if i can get a decent video/sound clip...
