I wanna do this right (now with less in-your-face fontyness)

my plans from my gsl-se this summer is get

2ndGen rims
new shocks and springs (not too sure what make to get)
msd
RB headers
im just going to rigg something up for the intake...i got a cheesy cone filter, if it fits in there nice it should be alright...ya know, wateva, it should be better than stock.

what order do you think would best work out for a not so impressive budget

i wanna get a whaletail spoiler too but i know that will be the last thing for sure that is
if i have the money

i wish i just won $10,000 dollars...the rex and myself would have some nice livin for awhile haha

uhhuh, well... search for some ideas using the search feature, but I'm sure you've heard that a million times by now.

Go with Racing Beat springs and Tokico shocks. That's easily 300 right there. Make sure you take care of all your bushings and everything or even your new stuff will still suck.

Don't bother with MSD, yet. Take care of the basic stuff. You only *need* a better ignition to extend your usable rpm range with more powerful spark that doesn't die off as easily. Among other positives as well, like fuel economy. Unless you're going at this hardcore it can wait.

thanks for the info about the bushings and reason why i have msd in mind is because i am having problems with my ignition i just want the full upgrade to make it problem free...but ah better ignition huh? what would be a suitable replacement, is there a certain make i can check out? i thought msd would be a solution to my ignition problems, what other parts do i need to make the ignition better?

Search for DLIDFIS.

no

the dlidfis is basically a rewiring trick, you use the leading ignition coil from a second gen RX-7 and have that fire the leading spark plugs directly.

ahh i see, i will have to look into it more...i'll end up doin it i know that...i need to redo the whole ignition system...so if i get a hold of some 2nd gen coils and do some wiring is that the deal.
i also need a fusible link from a 2nd gen, well actually i need the wholefuse box. i'm just going to try to put a 2nd gen ignition system in there...do you think my alternator will be fine with all those 2nd gen parts in there?

You don't need a whole second gen fusebox, there's an easier way.

Just go to autozone and get some fusible links.

In this order replace your fusible links in your FB. 30amp 60amp 30amp

RB Springs = damn good springs, amazingly low price. I dunno how they do it.
KYB Shocks = good upgrade for stock, not nearly as expensive as Tokico, but not adjustible.

Leave the rims and whaletale 'till last. It's not what's on the outside that's important, it's what's under the hood

Forget MSD. Too expensive for not enough benefit. Go either DLIDFIS (as mentioned) or 2nd Gen coil with one of those cool "Transistor Trick" boxes (once they iron the kinks out of 'em).

RB headers = good.... but only if you get the whole system. Believe me, you *don't* wanna put them on a stock car.

Well... you *could* put them on and leave your cat, but that would defeat the purpose of upgrading the exhaust system.

The problem is that RB headers + pipe + muffler sounds like ****. Really loud tinny ****.
RB headers + Cat + muffler sounds a bit better, but doesn't give performance
RB headers + presilencer + RB muffler is the best for sound and performance, but costs alot.

Save up and get the whole system. You'll be glad you did.

I dunno if you have a 12a or 13b, but if you've got a 12a I don't know how you're gonna get a cone filter to work.

www.rx7.com has the "bonez intake kit". It's a K&N and a modified lid for better breathing. You could also just get the K&N and cut the sides of the lid like someone here did (best bang for buck, go for it). Or if you're like me and you want performance *and* style in your engine bay, www.iscracing.net but it's expensive (but worth every penny IMHO).

No more big fonts

Jon

Thanks Jon for getting rid of the big font. And yeah, I agree, work on everything under hood first, then worry about exterior. What good is it to have a good looking car if all it is going to so is sit there and look pretty? Plus, depending on how old some of the under hood things are, replacing those things could gain you the benefit of being out of money when they do break or what have you; whereas a rim isn't going to just break for no reason and you definitely don't need a whale tail to drive your car.

The only 2nd gen rims that fit on the SE are those lame *** Phone Dial rims, I have a stack of them in the garage. I loan them out to a friend of mine so he can do donuts and burn outs. Some have come back with the belts flapping on the fender.

YEAH!...thanks for the font adjustment, haha but yeh i got a 13b and i found out the rims i was lookin for. they are the enkie mesh ones, they kinda look like a deep dish.
but yeh i need to get my ignition situated seriously...i haven't been on the road because of it, at first it was the cap, rotor and coil that need to be replaced...after that i only had about a couple of hours or driving before another thing went wrong...i was told i might need a whole new distibuter.
i found this dude that has some parts...msd coils and has a 2nd gen distibuter...DO YOU THINK THOSE PARTS WILL BE OK IN THE FB?
