Talking I think I found my idle and low power issue - GSL-SE

Okay...so today I took the upper intake off to check the injectors...and first what do I see??? I never put gasket sealant on the upper intake gasket

Then I went on to the fuel rail...took that off and pulled the injectors...peeped down the injector hole and see BROWN CRUD!!!

So now I know this winter I'll send it out to get them cleaned...thoroughly...in the mean time I cleaned out what was in there with a q-tip...put gasket sealant on the upper intake gasket, put her back together...and turned her over...it took a bit for it to smooth out but now the idle is back...not sure about the power yet as I didn't take her for a drive...

It spudders a little during idle...so I'm thinking I'll get that cleared out when I have the injectors cleaned or replaced...

During the week I'm gonna try to change out the fuel filter...being that its letting dirt get past it now...

Before you send your injectors away, is there any place in your area that sells a product
by by BG. There is a cleaner that is called 44k that is carried by garages and dealerships in my area that I have used for over 10 years that will take care of the problem on the car.
Otherwise slick 50 synthetic fi cleaner is pretty good. Also alot of repair shops offer Fi cleaning on the vehicle. Just a thought before you disablbe your ride. rx7doctor

Good call doc! I've never used it but have heard good things about BG44k. Some dealerships use it as part of regular maintenance.

EDIt - I've been meaning to get some of this stuff and just purchased two cans of it on eBay for $36.50 with free shipping. That's seems like a decent price.

Thanx for the tip RXDoctor and Inittab...I'll get this stuff...and although I've tried searching before for local places I'll try again...there's gotta be somewhere in NJ that can do my injectors in 1 day...

I'll want to do both...but definately not until after I replace my fuel filter. As for my ride into work today...the car again was come and go...I guess I got alot of the dirt out but not all of it and now as a result the car surges on the highway a little as the fuel flow comes and goes

I'm also thinking about just getting new injectors...does anyone know of some OEM replacements for an 84 RX7 GSL-SE? I've read before these particular injectors are hard to find because they just don't make injectors with this much flow in them...

You might want to consider flushing your gas tank too. Marine Clean by POR-15 is the stuff to use for that.
