Clutch or Hydraulics?

Hey guys, I just put a new engine in, and I'm having some problems with my clutch. I had an old clutch lying around with plenty for thickness left, so i put that in, and used the pressure plate that came on the engine. My problem is that it slipps really easy at high speed, or going up hills. My pedal feels really soft, and takes VERY little effort to engage. Can the Hydraulics effect how a clutch disengages, cause in my mind it would only really effect how the clutch engages?I'm hoping its the master cylinder, It would be nice if i didn't have to pull the engine again. Thanks for any thoughts guys.

Bad hydraulics will not cause a clutch to slip.

The Hydraulics only have any effect when changing gears or taking off from a stop. Basically the hydraulics only work when your foot touches the clutch pedal.

Slip at high speeds is attributed to clutch components. Thankfully, they're not the *most* expensive components... I got the disc, pressure plate, release bearing and clutch centering tool for $200 Canadian (plus tax, so $230). If it's only slipping at high speeds, then I guess you'll have to deal with lower speeds 'til you can scrummage up the cashola. Sorry I couldn't give you better news dude.
