Question I need your support

I want to remove the center link from both tie rods to remove surface rust and paint he center link. The Haynes manual says to support the car with jack stands. My question is I already have the car supported on car ramps I drove up on can I safely remove the center link just using the support of the ramps or will car collapse killing me and putting an end to the project.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

if in doubt play it safe. is it worth your life to paint a part on your car? what good is it to you if you dead or in the hospital? do it right and safe.
