Most junk yards dont know what the heck they are, and you can get them cheap. Just look for a car with body damage, and the ignites are probably good.

Your best bet is the junkyards. pull the dist. pull the
igniters. put them in your pocket. i do it every time
i go to the boneyards. and then put a big check mark
on the windshield. **** victoria british wants $149.00
each. and another one was $179.00 each or around there. i must have 20 sets, man.

Essentially, the ignitor is a fancy high power transistor amplifier. It converts the low level signal from the magnetic pickup to the high level power used by the coil's primary circuit... (The coil takes a lot of power, You can't feed all that power through the magnetic pickup 'cause it'd burn up.)

The part number is everything... Pinout, power handling characteristics, mounting and package type...

You may be able to convert the J106's... Hell... You may be able to convert tubes from an old guitar amp if you're really wacked... But you're on your own from there... I'll just continue buying my "miscelanious ignition sensors" for $5...
