I need some lockin wheel studs

You know the locking lug nuts with the key you have to attach to the socket wrench to get them off? Has anyone seen these for our cars in stud form? Ide sure like to buy some since i live on the perimeter of the ghetto.

Also, does anyone know if our studs are interchangeable with other manufacturer's studs. i.e. volkswagon, mercedes? I thought the it might be easier to find studs for a diffrent car if they would still fit.

thanks

Edit: i just found some at www.wheelcomponets.com but 45 bucks! but i guess thats not too bad. But they only come in chrome and my wheels are black.

not a dealership... a site.

HOWEVER.... you have to be a registered, and to get registered you have to be a racer.

Why not change all the bolts over to studs and nuts. You'll probably have a lot more options that way.

Do they make tuner studs? I found a set of rims for my 4x110 pattern but the stock studs wont fit.....OR how hard is it to convert to lugs?

I thought stock was wheel bolts, whereas studs WERE aftermarket, not 'stock studs'

You can get studs that screw in with an allen key. Then you can use whatever lugnut is suitable. It's usually a good idea to use a bit of loctite on them as well.

You're right... I think some people are just getting the terminology mixed up.

when i put my 16s on, i simply loctited one stud to the rotor, and left the other 3 as wheel bolts. that way i could use the generic wheel lock nuts, while making it *much* easier to throw a tire on the car. (nothing like trying to align the holes in the wheel with the holes on the rotor in the dark!)

I think you just have to find the right length and turn them in with a little bit of loctite, or something like it. But you have to find the ones with the allen head on the end. But if you get new rotors, guess what, you have to throw them away and do it again. :P

It is getting confusing isnt it? But i still have the bolts. If i could find the locking studs i would buy them. But if i have to convert them to studs i will. Ive been working on my car just about everyday since my wreck in october, im almost there. But im getting to the point where i just want my car back on the damn road. So, im trying to avoid any extra work. But maybe ill do it later.

12A Cars came with BOLTS.
GSL-SE's and Series III RX-7's came with Studs.

To convert from Bolts to Studs.
You could order the studs and heads from a GSL-SE from Mazda. All 84+ 13B powered cars should use the same heads on the studs.

Or you could go to an aftermarket shop and find the correct fitting studs and heads to fit.
