Smile i need some advise

Hello everyone,
I am new to this site and I own a 1984 rx7. She has been parked for 4 years and now she needs a new engine. I don't have a lot of money but I love my car. Does anyone know a GOOD mechanic in the lower mainland that can do this job real cheap?? Or at least for a reasonalbe price?
If you can help me, my name is Angel and you can email me at tamiller@shaw.ca
I hope someone out there has an answer for me!
Thanks in advance,
Angel

Your car doesnt run because it was parked for 4 years?
Or was it parked because there was something else wrong with the engine?
The more you can tell us the more it might help find a solution.

Tell us some more about the car. Just dont assume it needs a rebuild. It could just need some TLC!

Talking

OK This is how it is.........
I had to park her because she needed a new clutch, and the radiator leaked a little. Finally after 4 years I got the clutch and battery done just find out the it still wouldn't start. The guy emptied the gas tank re-filled it nothing! added gas to the carb and it turned over but stalled. After many different tries he said when he added water to the radiator, the radiator would remain empty and the water found it's way to the engine???? Does that sound right? Anyway, he said that this ment over the years with no coolent in the rad. the engine must have forzen and thawd causing the engine block to crack.
Please keep in mind, unforturatley this mechanic is not a Mazda specialist , he works at a gas station. He is good at his job, don't get me wrong but he does not specialize in Mazdas.
This is what he has told me. From your experieces does this sound right? What is the next step for me? I have three offers to buy her off me and they all know the statis. This makes me think it's worth putting the money into her and getting her back on the road.
Any ideas out there for me??
Thanks, Angel

The possibility is there that the block is cracked. If the coolant is finding it's way into the engine, it could be coolant seals, or a cracked block. I would verify this with a rotary mechanic though, if you don't know how to do it yourself.

you can always take the exhaust manifold off and see if coolant/water seems out from one of the housing when the engine is turned over by hand... This problem usually occurs when rotarys overheat, the aluminum housings warp creating a crack in the housing. When I pulled my header off after this happened to my old engine coolant literally poured out of the one rotor, it was a sad day.

As far as changing the engine goes, are you afraid of getting your hands dirty? Knowledge is awesome when it comes to vehicles or else you will end up with a hefty repair bill.
