I need help fast with engine swap

I have 85 with the 12a, the carb is out... i think, but there is a guy 50 miles away selling a 13b with tranny, intake, exhuast and wire harness, for 400 dollars, he had the compression checked and it fine, but I need to know how or if I can make it work in mine ok. I don't know what year the motor came out of. he has another buyer lined up, if I don't get it.

You need to know which year of 13-B.
* old school 4port
* S3 GSL-SE
* S4-S5 6port
* TII

Well, I'd rule out that it is a TII motor.
Other then that it does not matter what year it came out of if you are doing a swap.

If it turns out to be a S4 or S5 which is more then likely. then you will just need to round up a Se oil pan and front cover to make it fit onto your subframe.

Post pictures of the engine. Alot easier than you telling us. Since you don't know alot about the differances.

A 12a front cover will work if you use the 12a oil metering pump. The 12a pump only has 2 lines instead of the SE's 4 lines but you can connect those 2 lines and cap off the other 2 oil ports on the engine.

I called and it is from an 85, but I was more concerned about hooking things up, as far as it being fuel injected, vs, my carb

It will bolt right up. It would be easier to buy a sidedrafy carb and bolt up to the engine. Not really sure on the wiring.

Well, if you have emission testing there then you would have to run FI. Then you have to change your fuel tank, fuel pump, ecu and awhole lot of other work.

If you have no emission testing then just drop her in with slight mods to the engine mounts, put a header system on and some sort of side draft or down draft.

The wiring isn't really that bad to run EFI using the stock ECU that matches the engine. Besides the wiring for the ignition, its just 4 wires that need to be wired up. There should be a thread on it in the archives or even in the FAQs.
