I need to clean up my exhaust fumes?

S4 13B no actuators, RB sp exhaust and Dellorto carb. This motor did not smoke when it was on the 2nd gen running the stock exhaust and 6port actuators. Why is it when I dropped it in my 1st gen I get smoke? Is it because the cats on the 2nd gen was cleaning it up and the 6ports were not open at idle? Will an MSD clean up the fumes/smoke? I'm still running the stock ignition.

Thanks, Ed

Exhaust smoke

Hum, you're running the same setup as i am ! The "90" engine i have never smoke until i placed it in my (GLC). The engine ran great but there was this little puff of smoke that really bothered me. When i had my ignition system up- graded (DLIDFIS) it toned it down a little. Now in the last couple of days i've just went one more step further a did the (2GDFIS) and i can't start to tell you how much improvement i'm receiving at this point of my tuning. The smoke clear right up and actually i add a little more fuel mixture to my Dellorto and she really skoots now. I hope this little info helps you !

running rich is very common on any carb set-up. try using a lower idle jet but again, the performance may suffer a bit. The rest are just common sense: Muffler tip not sitting before the rear bumper, rubber in the hatch are in good shape, and patch up any holes in the back of the car where the fumes can get in.

That could be the reason there(carb vs EFI). Mel I 'm not worried about the fumes getting insideI love that smell! I just feel bad for the person behind me. LOL! Everytime I start my car my wife has to close the windows in the house. Ha ha! I really want to get an MSD in there to try and clean it up. If not then atleast the 2nd gen directfire set up. Mel can you hook me up with the parts? PM me if you have the parts.

Thanks, Ed
