I need a body shop

I need a place to take my 85. I’ve got front and rear damage. Every place I’ve taken it just wants the insurance money or they act like I’m an idiot for wanting to fix my once perfect car. Some don’t even want to talk to me. Does anybody know of a body shop in LA that would be happy to get my business?

That's wierd; they won't touch it because it's not an insurance job? Isn't money, money?

Around me people love to pick up jobs like that. Quite a few guys even do it on the side to save the customer money and pick up some cash under the table.

How much work does your car need? Any pics?

I’ll put some pics up on Monday. Early estimates look like about $2000.00 in body damage. I also need new shocks and exhaust because of this, my muffler got pushed into my rear shock absorber. Any suggestions? I just drive it street, I don’t race but I figure I’d take this opportunity to put something good on it. I know nothing about shocks or exhaust systems.

Well, I've never been to LA so I can't give you any names of shops, but I can offer some general advice.

Try looking for shops that have good reputations with the BBB -- I would imagine something like that is online and can be found easily.

Also, try looking for shops that work with classics (such as old Corvettes and whatnot) or a private shop (particularly in the winter when things might be a bit slower). A friend of mine is a machanic that owns his own shop back in Ohio. He does work mostly with Japanese and English import sports cars, but in the winter things usually slow down a bit for him and he'll often take some body work.

Hopefully that's somewhat helpfull.
