Does anyone have an alternator for a 1985 GSL 12A automatic. I placed this in the parts wanted but got no replies. I need one with the wire screw and plastic washer. The one I have is broke and the wire is arking on the alternator. Thanks, Vic

 

any rx7 alternator from 84 to 88 will work, get the turbo 2 alt to boost your amperage rating.

 

would an 83 work? If it would you can have it. your cost shiping + what you think it was worth to you (donation) . nothing wrong just too much stuff tripping up my space.

 

Yeah, I believe that the 83 would work on the 85. The amp ratings are slightly different, but hey..

 

Plus the 83 and earlier have an external fan, not that it really matters but it won't look original (oh no). 85rx7gs is right I think 84 and later had 5 more amps or something like that.

 

An alternative if you score an '89-'91 alternator...


How to get it in...

I'd highly recommend going this route bcause the "pedestal" style mounting for the output is superior to the plastic washer nonsense on the alt casing...
