I lost my rx-7, my baby.
I shed a single tear in the back of a police car as my 85 GS was towed away. This was my baby, as I keep to myself I don't have a girlfriend or kids or anything so this is who i took care of. I just dont think I can ever get the money together to get her out of impound... So, if youre in Columbus keep an eye out at police auctions. I would rather a club member get her than a ******** get her or worse: she be scrapped. I want her back but if I cant, I will probably be looking for a cheap FC soon.
Nothing exciting... You know, it would be cool if it got taken because I was annihilating a Ford Focus in a street race(which I have), but I just got caught with expired plates and expired license.
Since he never bothered to get the tag updated, nor bail out the car, I bought it from the impound lot for $500. Not bad for a car with all the cool stuff mine had when I got it. I coulda sold the wheels for more than I paid for the car.
Sorry, but I can't feel too much pity for anyone that knowingly drives a car without proper tags and license. Driving is a priveledge, not a right. There are certain fees you must keep current, or else you shouldn't drive.
^Most impound lots charge alot (like $5,000 + certain amount per day) just to make it hard for people to get their car back. I know at the impound yard in Sumter county they charge $3,000. I know because my first FC (S4) got stolen and stripped and I got called to verify the car was mine. It was so fucked up seeing my car like that considering how clean it was. I didn't have full coverage, so I just let it go.

It's the kid's love. Instead of poking fun at him about it (although you should have known better to be driving no license/insurance), maybe it would be better to help devise some ways to get his car back. It's better he has it than the junkyard or scrapper.
1). He would have to pay all the back fees on the car
2). He would have to pay the police fee, the towing fee and the impound fee.
3). He would have to get insurance on the vehicle
4). He would have to renew his license.
And in this case it sounds like maybe the license was taken away for some other reason and that is why he does not have one.
I'll allow this thread to stay until tomorrow then it's off to the lounge it goes.

it all depends on if they will allow him to get his car out without a license renewal.. i been pulled over for susupended license and got it out the same day.. all i payed was tow fees and storage cost.. as it looks he just turned 21 which is why his plates and license were no good.. no excuse... but then again im not much better at driving with no license..
In Michigan; pay the towing, pay the ticket, pay the +/- $100.00 per day storage fee, then you're all set. The biggest problem is getting the money together before it really starts adding up. It doesn't take long before the downward slide becomes unstoppable.
Once I had a car towed and I couldn't get the funds together fast enough. When they held the auction, I bought the car back for far less than the fees. I still had to pay the original parking ticket, but the towing and storage fees just sort of went away. However, this only works if there's nobody else bidding against you at the auction...

I had insurance when I got pulled over and I just needed to go grocery shopping for dinner that night. I was going to get my plates the next day. Impound is runnin me like $350 now. I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me.
Thx for backing me up, I have been really depressed over this and I don't need people poking fun at me. Thx again for your empathy.
man that sucks i know how it feels i cant afford to pay the safty on my 85 so i just sits in the guys compound untill i can pay. sucks u lost it tho. why dont u just start selling something worth alot lol.
good luck man
Since these pics I've removed the emmisions, Rebuilt the carb, put some of the interior back together, had the cd player stolen, and some other little tune-up ****. Her biggest problem is that she is missing the watts linkage so dont take any really hard turns.
I sold everything worth anything to pay my rent...
Well, I'm in the army reserve and I thought I could go full time for the army to get enough money, but then when could I really come back to Columbus to get her, right? I'm really stuck.
i am sorry for your loss. its important to keep enough $$ to at least be out of work for a month. i know it sounds difficult to keep $$ you cant spend but it will help out in situations like this. so ramin noodles, and water. that might be the winning diet to save up for your car.
