I know it's not dealing with the FB, but I'm excited.

I popped a deer a month and a half ago with my pos Hyundai, and it won't pass inspection, and it's not worth fixing, so I've been driving it without an inspection for the last 2 weeks. I've been in dire need of some sort of car (I almost settled for a beat CRX )

But today was a highlight for me because I'm getting my hands on something relatively nice and the guy is working out a deal with me. The car is $2500, and I'm going to put $1000 up front, and pay $250 a week until it's paid off (I have little or no credit for a loan) The car is an '89 with 93k miles. I've worked with him long enough to know it was maintained almost religiously. Ok, enough of me babbling, here's a picture.

It's a 1989 Maserati TC. It's a turbo charged intercooled motor. It's an auto, but I really don't care, beggars can't be choosers. Sorry for the lack of "FB related" material, but like I said...I'm just really excited.

I know the weekly payment thing sounds iffy, but he's going to make documentation on it and what not.

Make sure you get a contract of sorts and HAVE IT NOTORIZED. Other than that, cool car. Kinda looks like a LeBaron though.

It's a joint effort from Chrysler and Maserati. The car was a modified LeBaron, and was introduced in '89 to compete with the pricey Caddies, BMW's, and that luxury Buick from that era. It's built off a shortened Daytona frame, and was built and assembled in Italy. I know it's not extremely impressive, but it's still cool. The hard top does come off.

I thought LeBaron first time I saw it, too. I've never seen a Maserati before.

Well congrats Big Boss.

I remember those, about 225 HP stock. Nice car for the price but it will require you to learn about it to keep it going. Much like any exotic, don't expect your average mechanic to know the first thing about many of it's systems, such as the one off ABS. Don't get carried away with trying to tweak it up. The four valve head has some weaknesses and parts are scarce. Don't beat on it until it's been paid for long enough to save up another grand. Find a Dodge 2.2 turbo site for good advice. There's a lot of potential in that engine for speed.

It starts as a Le Baron shell that Masarati transforms into the TC. Special engine, interior, exterior mods, brakes, etc. Really limited production, I've only seen two or three in all these years and one didn't run.

Good luck with it,
Vernon

PS I saw a dealer tool ABS diagnostic box for the TC on Ebay once and nobody even bid a $1 on it but you'll need one eventually so learn to search religiously- lol.

I do know why parts are scarce for it though. There's a guy somewheres within 200 miles who owns a field with 60 of these cars in it. They aren't all the Maserati ones, but the drivetrain is completely compatible with the Shelby version of the LeBaron.

I don't plan on tweaking it much...if any. I just plan on replacing the seats and arm rest. I guess the 16 year old leather crapped out from daily use.

Thanks for the advice man.

Did this version not use a better Version for the Head. Seems to me that the guys on www.turbododge.com wanted the Maserati head as they were much better. The 2.2 head is bad to crack at the valve seats.

Looks like a sweet ride.

Back in those days Chrysler worked with Maseratti, and Lotis. And Shelby made them all go faster.

This was also the era where Chrysler owned Lamborghini.

Then during the nineties they kinda we're ehhhhh in the sales because they were trying new things.

And now look at them. Fords gone to the ******* (even in England where they've always been prominent), and GM has no idea what its doing.

Woah... Just Woah...

I thought you were joking when you said it was a Maserati.

I'd register it as a Chrysler LeBarron just to get the insurance discount though.

"My Maserati does one eighty-five.
I lost my license, now I don't drive.
I got a limo, parked right in the back.
I lock the doors in case I'm attacked."

Who cares if it's a Lebaron? It still says Maserati on the tail light section.

That is pretty awesome, though I do kind of think the Rampage is a forgotten car.
(I've wanted a Rampage for a while now as well. The FB just became available sooner...Lol.)

There is one for sale over near me. Gold, With a great interior and 5 speed. I wont call to ask the price because I know I will buy it and with as many cars as I currently have I do not need any thing else.

Haha, I'm trying to build my arsenal of vehicles, the FB was the first, now the Maserati...I'm still looking for oddball cars. I wouldn't mind one of those Shelby tuned Omni's.

I am up to 5 taged cars. 1, 7 that needs sold, 1 that needs work and taged, and a buch of parts cars.

Plus my 64 ford truck that needs work and a 48 Nash that I want to rebuild. So I must resist the Rampage.
