I keep blowing tail light fuses

Has anyone else had this happen. I just bought the car and The tails worked fine the other day. I tried to clean the inside of the rear drivers taillight and put everything back together. I then got a stop lamp idiot light. So I have since fixed the stop lamp problem, but everytime I turn on the headlights I pop that fuse. Anyone?

At the minimum can someone look up the wiring diagram and tell me which wire into the tail light is the brake and which is the tail. I might be going custom on this one!

I would go back and verify that you have the proper bulbs installed. I had some crazy stuff going on once and found I had installed a single filament bulb into my brake light fixture. It shorted out the line and my dash lites and turn lamps went on whenever I stepped on my brakes.

You can get all the manuals you need here:

Good luck

here's my q,,, if I remove the rear harness's to the lights,,, so they are disconnected,,,,, will it still blow a fuse if THAT'S where the problem is? I would think no, but I HATE electrical

Do just that.. remove the taillight connectors, turn on the lights, if the fuse is fine, try connecting one side, if it's still fine try the other. It takes a short to blow the fuse, that will help you isolate where the short is. You could also try connecting the taillights w/o any bulbs.

Happened to me too. Check to make sure you didnt crimp a wire when you tightened down the bracket on the back. Make sure you have the proper bulbs and replace your fuse.
