I was just wondering

Why are all 1st gens in Japan called SA22C but here the 79-80 are called SA and the 81 to 85 are called FB? Its not like mazda did a full model change. I know about the whole vin number standardization, but I don't understand the whole FB thing.

it's all about the VIN #. nothing really special.
