Talk to your wife and ask for one night a week to work on it. You have to give her the same amount of time for her self.

The time juggle is hard but can be done.


You also need to build a garage at your house.

 

when life bites you in the ***, bite it back! keep your head straight and finish what you started. there is no such thing as "not enough time". how do i know? because ive been working on my project for 10 years now. why? because for some reason, life bites my *** to many times. lol. and dont procrastinate(sp). when you get a chance, start wrenching. btw, congrats.

 

My 85 GS started having problems right after my wife & I moved back when she finished college. Within 2 months trying everything I could think of to keep it going, I couldn't get it started at all. I was still trying to find a job and we just started trying to have kids. I ended buying a junker to get us around (she doesn't have license) and my poor 7 has been sitting for 5 1/2 years. I've almost sold it 3 or 4 times but my wife the wonderful woman she is, would never let me sell it. She always said "You love it, its paid for, someday you'll fix, and if you sell it you'll always miss it." She was right of course (they usually are). And this last couple of months working on the 7 with my 4 yr old son and my 2 yr old daughter have been some of the best times I've ever had.

They see how excited I get when something starts to work again and just revel in the experience. My daughter will yell "Yay! Yay!" and start clapping, and when she sits in passenger seat she whispers "Zoom Zoom" then makes engine noises. My son helps me with the tools and allowed to use the screwdriver to remove some parts. He then goes in and reports the days progress to his mother. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I say if you can afford to keep them and work on a little at a time then do so just don't get depressed when the family pulls funds in different directions. In the end its all worth it.

 

thanks again for all the postive feedback its helping alot to keep me motivated and on the right track. I have decided that i am not going to sell the 1 rx7 i love, the 83 base model ( i love roll up windows & no roof) but i would like to give the other car to my father or trade it for a mg midget. then he could have a project with me (we never did that stuff when i was growing up) i might have to get a s5 tII or gtus for a dd until i can complete my car.

You just have to keep going I have so many projects right now I don't know where to start. I walk around look for a small one to start, but some times they all seem to big, and I have friends that will help me, just keep up the motavation. When you drive it when its done thats when you know what you spent all the time on.
