You could easily cut some 6mm x 1.0 threads into a standard wingnut of appropriate size. That is of course if you also have a stud of appropriate (metric) thread pitch in the first place. You could also always cut new threads in the front cover, but I'd just stick to stock thread pitch if I was me. Or something like that.
