83 gsl, 85 gsl parts car (b/c it's a freak'n auto!)

I'm ready to sell the parts car. Guess I'll be putting it on ebay. I refuse to send it to a scap yard. Body is still in good condition, just needs painted, an engine, and a 5spd swap. Mazda engineers were smokin crack pretty heavy the day they said, "Hey, let's put an AUTO in that seven!" Dumbasses.......

I think that says something about rx-7's (they rock)

I own 2 right now. My first one (82 GS, parting out) and my new 84 GSL-SE. I recently found another one near my home with a beautiful red body, just stiiting there witout a hood. I havent talked to the owner yet (but I plan to, it looks perfect) but it looks like it needs an engine. If nothing else I can sell him my 12A SP (but I would rather have the car )

amen to "rather have the car"!
If people don't seem to have an appreciation for the true rx-7 art form, I won't even offer parts, cause they probably still won't maintain it properly. I just tell them That I could use the parts, and generally get them pretty cheap.

I've had three. Two have become parts cars and stripped down, the other is my daily driver except for the winter months. Two 82 GSL's (parts) and one 83 GSL (daily). Now I'm looking for a solid shell with not sunroof to build up.

Funny thing is for me, I didn't really like Rx-7's, I was looking to get and old Z (240 or 280 would have setteled for a 260) I found one and couldn't afford it then when I got the funds to get a good one, one couldn't be found. They were all rust buckets (like the one I owned before) or just to expensive. So I'm at work and my old shop teacher walks in and I'm telling him my plight, he starts talking about 7's (he races them) and that he has a friend selling a '84 SE. So I go look at the SE two weeks later she's mine--- I've scince had two other sevens and I'm driving a GS with SE suspension now and really want to do another one. Even with all there quirks most people just fall in love with the 1st gens.

Well I have 2. I've owned a total of twelve through the years. I just bought an 85 gs in near perfect condition, only one owner with 80,000 miles, completely stock--down to the factory floormats. The car sat for several years but I knocked on the door and saved her. She cost $1500 though. A little elbow grease and some wax and she looks great. I also bought another 85 gs in Maine with all the goodies on it. The body and interior look realy bad though, so I'm gonna put the carb, exaust, springs, wheels, strut bar brace, and all the other odds and ends on the good body!!! FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

That's funny. I always have to make a quick mental count when people ask me how many I have.

its not good when you can count on two hands and often lose track of what years you've had. i love the look on people's faces when i tell them i have 5 vehicles even though they are not perfect, they are still mine and they are paid for!!!

I currenty have just 2. 83GSL (weekend driver) and a 84GSL parts car(currently on Ebay) so then I will be down to just the one.

I have owned the following in this order:
82 GS - smoked really bad due to bad oil seal, sold it.
83 GS - locked up engine, bought a good 12A from midwest engine, drove it all through h.s. wrecked it doing 90mph, sold it b/c engine was still kick ***.
80 - parts car, no title, ended up scrapping it b/c it was rusted out
87- needed engine, bought one at a junkyard for $150 but the water seals were bad in it, traded it for a Nissan 4x4
83GSL(current) traded 13b engine for it. no motor
84GSL(current) bought cheap, took engine out for the 83 model. This car is an auto and didn't want to fool with switching everything out.

So there you go! Rx-7 lover for life! Would LOVE to have an FD too someday....
