I Got My 83' GSL (56k maybe not)

Picked it up today for $800, after a good cleaning, putting the gas tank back under the car it fired right up, though the carb is probably stopped up. Itll idle and rev, but anything over about 25% throttle itll bog and try to die. So I will try and clean it this week. The clutch master cylinder is also messed up, pedal wont move, so Ill either rebuild it or replace it. Heres a few pictures, and the interior is cleaner than it looks, something about my camera flash always makes car interiors look horrible.

Car has a full Racingbeat exhaust system (header, presilencer, and muffler) Mikuni 44mm carb and some kind of springs on the rear, dunno the brand.

also, what is a good oil pressure for a new engine? my oil pressure reads about 65 at idle and somewhere around 90 under load. i dont know much about rotary but thats pretty damn good oil pressure. the engine has 122k on it, so it needs a rebuild anyway

hmmm... maybe thats not a bad sign, what would cause abnormally high reading? or is yours just low? well i dunno, id say closer to 55 idle and 85 load

very cool car and very cool tires. the exhaust system alone is worth the purchase price. great find!! make sure its your clutch master cylinder, not your throwout bearing or pressure plate.

well thanks to felix wankel ^^^ i got the car at such a good deal. and i wasnt aware it was a gs, maybe i was confusing this one with the one i was gonna pick up in enterprise a few weeks ago. and anthony, that gas tank was a BITCH to get in, that ridge on the top of the tank wouldnt line up and fall into place. fought with it for close to an hour. after some carb cleaner she fired up and ran, but my dad said it sounds like the carb is stopped up and needs cleaned, which is ok cause its getting re-jetted soon anyway. this week ill have a new master cylinder and she will be somewhat road worthy

when you push in on the pedal the entire master cylinder assembly pulls away from the firewall, so its just a messed up cylinder...

Its an extremely nice car, and an extremely good price. I have no idea as to which oil pressure is right, but I know that both of mine idle at 30 psi and then go up to 60 psi under load. I was under the impression that that is the proper psi, but I'm not entirely sure.

yeah my brother thought the same thing about it. watch those stupid o-rings when you pull the carb off, I screwed the old ones up and had to buy another set.

any carb pros here? im gonna list some symptoms and what i was told was wrong with the carb and you tell me if it sounds right. if i rev the car at more than about 25% throttle itll bog and depending on the rpm itll either sputter then clear up or bog and die. i was told its the accelerator pump, i have a mikuni 44 carb btw. does the guy know his stuff or is he wrong?

also my oil pressure issue might have been that the engine was cold, once i let it warm up it dropped to about 45 idle and about 75-80 load

Talking

ordered idler arm bushings to fix the loose steering problem ( i hope its what the issue is) along with a new clutch master cylinder so itll actually engage and disengage the clutch, and a rebuild kit plus accelerator pump diaphragm for my carb so itll actually run right. should all be here by late week and hopefully she will be on the road and running by the weekend (if i dont work my *** off as ussual)
