well I figured the second gen shift **** and a leather shift boot didnt come stock with the car, it would be considered a modification, I mean, thats just me..

I realize that people like to have fun, and I dont hold it against you, I was just saying that other people where making such a big deal out of it as if I was stupid or something, I dont know everything there is to know about these cars considering anything I find out I find out from experience or from research, like I said, Im only 17, and this is my first car.

Just to let everyone know, I am not trying to rice out my car. The shift **** and boot arent all tie dye and glowing with fifty different L.E.D lights. I hate ricers, and I, unlike most people these days, know the difference between a ricer, and someone who likes imported cars. Im not trying to start anything, and I am not complaining about anything right now, I am just trying to get points across.

As for my car not working. I think we have narrowed it down to carb issues. Back when it started, I would have to hold it at an idle of about 2000 or so to get it up to running temp. Also, my choke dosnt work at all, whenever I pull the choke it just makes the choke latch on the carb "hop". I think the spring might be rusted up because it cant be moved even with lots of force.

When it finaly got up to running temp, it would drive, but loved to die if it sat under 2000, and it wouldent accelerate for crap. I know that I have the speedometer that goes to 85, but that was just a law from what I understand, and the next year speedometer goes to 130 and they both have the same engine, so Im pretty sure they dont have a governer or anything. Whenever I would floor it it seemed to not do much but slightly go faster.

Sounds like you might have vacuum leaks, or you're ready for a carb rebuild kit.

Please don't leave this forum just because of the guys having a little fun. I've only been here a couple of years, but I can already wrench rings around the dealership guys and any "mechanic" that I've met so far. Definitely a great place to learn what you need.

Traditionally, car enthusiasts will refer to mods as in performance mods, modifications that will make the car faster, or better handling. Ricers have deformed that to include ornaments and other useless stuff.

I agree with Kentetsu on the possible vacuum leak. Also, check faulty leading ignition as a cause of lack of power and poor idle.
