I finally got my own RX-7

I finally got a 1979 RX-7 with 5 speed and sunroof. I got it for free from my aunt. OK to start it has no battery because they took it out when it sat so long. You can't push the clutch pedal in. They said it ran when they last parked it, and it hasnt lost any oil, coolant, nor gas. I'm going to drain everything and get a battery. If anyone has any other sugestions what I should do, let em rip. Oh yea, my cousin painted it silver and maroon, its a classic looking car hehe.

Sounds like a lot of fun, getting it running and all. You can't push the clutch pedal in? That's kind of important, isn't it?

You can start it without the pedal pushed in - provided that you're out of gear. Check to make sure the clutch slave cylinder is in fact located where it should be on top of the tranny bellhousing. If you can't push it at all - it might be wedged. Additionally the clutch fork (rod from the pedal to the clutch master cylinder) might be askew and need to be put back into its place.

Definitely get new gasoline. Mine sat for 4 years and had a nasty coat of varnish in the tank when I went to get it going again. Not sure if the 79 tank has a drainplug on the bottom, but if it does, use it to empty the gasoline. You'll be able to tell if it's good or not by how clear it is.

Best of luck to you. Depending on how long it has sat, you might want to buy new sparkplugs and put an ounce or two of Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) in before cranking it over for the first time.

Put a capful or two down the carb, turn the engine pulley 120 degrees, put another capful, turn the pulley another 120, put the last capful.
