I don't seem to have too much punch off the line..

I'm new to this rotary scene seeing that i just got my 82 Rx-7 in april....anyways i did have some catylitic converter problems when i first got it (it hesitated like a bitch...and didnt go over 50 when i first got it)....a freind of mine unclogged the cat then it ran awesome after that for a while...now it seems like some days i have good power once i take off from first and other days it seem like i drag on forever...could it still be my catalytic converter...or what else...eveything else on the car seem fine...except for my exhaust (and i think it has an exhaust leak because its loud as hell!). Thoughts anyone?

www.racingbeat.com or www.mazdatrix.com a good exhaust will run you $700 if you don't have inspection to worry about, more if you need a cat to pass the sniffer.
