My fuel pump is going out. I do not want to throw in a 150 crappy stock pump. Can I just bolt up a holley or carter or do I have to get a regulator. Theres a regulator on the carb right.

If you did a search you'd realise this has been talked about so many times.

Yes, you'll need a regulator otherwise you'll flood your carby. It's no big deal, you just install it in-line with the main fuel hose in the engine bay. The regulator of choice for a Nikki is the Holley 1-4 psi unit.

man,

( I GOT A CARTER 7psi pump and a holley FPR) my issue here:

I have been having trouble setting the fuel pressure in my car with the holley FPR. I have a gauge installed inside but is not very accurate...it's one of those 1-15psi ones. At low pressure just like Yaw mentioned it's not very accurate.

The problem is such that twice the pressure has skyrocketed at over 4 psi or more going to my nikki and I have had to replace twice the top carb gasket. THe pressure floods the carb and burst the gasket and gasoline spills inside the engine.

So yeah you need a FPR badly.

The Purolator is a $25 piece of "junk" that will tide you over until you can get the Mallory two port billet regulator which will be the end of your problems. Or you could buy the kit and rebuild the Holley, which may or may not end your problem.
