I am a dumb***. New way to destroy a motor!

Not a long story or anything. I was doing a routine jet change and dropped my air cleaner nut into the carb while I was reving the motor. The nut squeezed past the butteflys and... Clank Clank Clank, motor dies, no compression. I'm an idiot. My plans for a half bridge port turbo '80 must proceed before I had planned, so I need a new daily driver. If anybody has an fb or fc for less than 1500 in the KC area let me know.

Feel free to tell your "i'm a dumbass" stories as well. Man i'm pissed at myself.

Marques

It really sucks when the lessons we learn in life cost so much...We all have our "dumbest" moments in rx7 history, mine was turning the fresh rebuild from the front bolt before I had the rear gear bolted down (rear rotor seized up after about 1/2 turn).

Cannot say yet that I have had a really bad goof. *knocks on wood* I hope that I can avoid something as drastic as toasting a new rebuild or my current engine. Anyways, sorry to hear about dropping the nut.

My plan was to pull the motor in about two weeks for a half BP. Enough time to find myself a daily driver. Now I must have a daily driver within 2 days, I can only hope it is in rx7. So who has one for me?

I can tell you right now that I am more of an idiot than you. When I just got my gsl-se, I stalled in an intersection and got hit by a car. Not too long ago, I was being a dumbass on a curvy wet road with my FC and slid it into a ditch. No damage from that, but when we pulled it out we dented the sidescurts and stuff. And oh yeah, just today I backed into something and busted my rear taillight on my FC.

Bring it on. Gaaaaaa.

If it makes you feel better, back in the day, i took my stock airfilter out of the box for "more air flow", ...i cant imagine how many things i sucked into the motor, metal shards were coming out of the spark plug holes

Damn man. That sucks big time.

That's worse than my horror stories.

Starting a rebuild TII engine up and the thing REVing up on it's own and not shutting down!

OR
Arc'ing the starter and causeing a fire 6 inches from a main fuel line! lol damn I got lucky.........

my horror story is that everytime I get the money to mod my 7 I have to spend that money on something else that comes up last minute (i.e. I finally found a TII drivetrain for a good deal and then I end up spending that money on school supplies or rather 75% of that money on school supplies)

Not a rex but its a good story to tell.
I now drive an 88 B2200 with a rotary [with a S\C] in it and last wednesday the new motor just got to the 960 miles mark and as soon as I pull in to my mom & dads drive way the motor idle whent up to 2k and stayed there so I backed up to park, shut it off and went to go inside the house .when I looked back @ the truck I saw a litte oil on the bumper end so I whent back to the truck opened the hood the inner fender was covered in oil look @ the motor and the front oil cooler hose had came off the motor .
The motor is fine and running well with no problems caught it just in time .

How'd the butterfly nut slip into the intake? I was under the impression that it was specifically designed not to make it in.
