Hub swap.

I know nothing about this topic, i'm looking to buy an s5 and using what i can from my SE on it. Are the hubs swapable? I want to keep my rims, to save money of course and don't mind spending work in place of money. I'm assuming the rear hub will not be swapable for obvious reasons. but if i can swap the fronts and just buy 5lug rear rims then it'll atleast save me alittle.

well, the s5's are 5 lug so i think your SOL there, think you have to swap in the front and rear axles

That's basically what i meant by hubs. The rear of an s5 has independant rear suspension though.

I'm goign to venture a guess that if it wasn't a total PITA everybody would have already done it.

Why would everybody want to convert 5 lug to 4 lug?

If you convert a 4 lug to a s4 se 4 lug you can use your rims but using the gslse suspension is a waste of effort. If you get a s5 5 lug there are plenty of s4se 4 lug swaps running around here. But you will take a hit in the brake department Is it really worth it to keep your rims? Just sell em and buy some nice 5 lug rims. But its your call.

Nothing from GSL-SE will fit on any 2nd gen. Just the wheels on S4 4-bolt.

I really don't want to have to buy new rims. I'll get wheel adaptors so my rims will stick out 5 inches from the fenders while it destroys my wheel bearings and my tires only wear on the inside from the camber being so off. Sound tite, yo?
