how are you guys using autometer manual oil temp gauges?????

i got my autometer oil temp and pressure gauge in. the oil pressure gauge appears as though itll work without any problems, but i dont see how the hell im supposed to use the oil temp gauge. the probe wont even fit into the Respeed oil pedestle. it also apears as though if it would fit itd still be so long itd hit the middle section the filter screws onto. also, the things that come with the gauge to screw in are MASSIVE compared to the hole in the oil pedestle.

it's a 1/2" NPT fitting on that probe. Big *****. It threads right into the RacingBeat pedastal. Offhand I'd say you need to drill and tap that hole bigger and need an smaller sized red adaptor fitting.

Might want to call Billy @ RESpeed.

john--i was told it doesnt get the correct temp in the oil pan. i also dont want to tap my pan if i can avoid it

drivefast--yeah, 1/2, its a big MFer compared to the 1/8 on the pedestle. so if i buy the RB pedestle itll hook right up?

Oilpan placement will give you the hottest reading of the oil.You will know exactly when your oil has reached critical temps.
Mounting it in the oil filter pedestal will give you the lowest oil temp reading and will tell you how well your oil cooling system is working.

With a mechanical gauge probe you will need a block. With an electric gauge probe and you can use the pedestal. The 3/8 NPT mechanical probe will not work with a pedestal even if it was tapped larger - It is to long.

aws140, sent you a PM on this as well.
