How would I go about replacing engine mounts without pulling the engine?
Like the subject says, I've got a set of new rubber engine mounts to try and cure some vibrations that I've been experiencing. I don't have an engine crane or a good place to hook a chain/comealong.
Is there a (good) way to raise the engine enough to replace the mounts one side at a time? If I unbolt one side and use a floor jack on the bell housing, do you think I'd get enough lift to clear the old mount and replace it?
Or should I unbolt the engine from the front mounting plate, which would make getting the rubber mounts out easier?
Any experience and/or tips would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Yeah, a good floor jack or even a scizzor jack can work - it's what I've used. A 2x4 to spread the load across the oil pan works very well. Loosen the front mount bar hardware before you lift, so you have something to torque against. Easy. I've swapped in competition motor mounts and hockey pucks this way.
A vibration could come from your tranny mount. When the rubber separates from the steel, it drops down metal to metal.

I've got a replacement transmission mount. I figured since the motor mounts were also cheap I may as well do them too. Thanks for the tips, fellas.
