Engine bogs/stalls when I try to floor it.

Nikki carb, deleted emissions.
1984 RX7, 12A small streetport. (4-7PSI fuel pump)

The engine runs pretty smooth, 1st and 2nd gear 6k RPM very easily, but once I switch from 2nd gear to 3rd gear at 6k RPM the car bogs, and slowly just chokes on itself. I used to just have to hold the clutch in and let it glide on neutral, but now that's not saving it at all.

Anyone have any idea maybe how to reset and adjust the nikki carburetor?

Mech or Vac secondaries? If Vac secondaries is the spring still installed in the diaphragm?

First guess would be the accelerator pump is not working right, maybe check ball gummed up or something plugged, or a bent linkage for it.

Secondaries help with high load situations, but throttle response when you jump on it depends first and foremost on that extra shot of fuel from the accel pump to bridge the vacuum drop when the throttles open quickly.

If you're able to romp through 1st and 2nd gear, may be fuel delivery to the carb. Fuel filter? If it's full of crud, change it. And consider where the crud came from.

Re-read you post and im with Cookboy, sounds like fuel supply. What fuel pump did you end up buying for it?

Do you have a regulator on that pump? 4-7 PSI is way too much for a Nikki. Stock pump tops out at like 3.8 PSI.

What if you take it to 7000 RPM instead of shifting at 6000 RPM does it bog before shifting? Or only while shifting?
