How to trouble shoot Fuel level gauge

Okay my fuel level stopped working last summer. I was just wondering if theres anything else I can check other than the fuel sending unit in the tank. When you turn the key to the one position it does not even move. I replaced the sending unit with a known working one and still nothing. Terminals are clean on the both the connector and sending unit. Any ideas?

Thanks, Ed

Pull the instrument cluster and look at the back of the fuel guage. You will see 2 sets of finely wound white wires around 2 bars. If there is any discoloration, i.e. a few of the windings are dark or black, then the guage is bad.

Ground the terminal connector for the sender and see if the needle moves.

Nope the guages can be replacesd individually. I've had the same problem with 2 different oil pressure guages. Hardest part is getting the cluster out, the rest is pretty striaght forward.
