How to setup throttle cable w/ Dell'Orto

well, i got my dellorto installed, and it ran with 2 cranks of the motor (mind you this is a motor i knew nothing about). It idles fine at about 750, but backfires from the 2nd rotor a lot, and if you rev it up just a little and let off, it shoots flames out the first rotor... i know this because i'm running it with NO exhaust at all, just bare ports.

i need to know how to setup the throttle cable, or lets see some suggestions from you guys. I'll upload some pics in a minute.

Nice Dellorto...! Where'd ya get it from...?

Stand on the passanger side front fender so now we're both looking at the carb from the same side. The plate that will hold your air filter has holes on the left side. Make a "L" shaped bracket so you can bolt it to the aircleaner plate and the 90* will clear the top of the aircleaner and point towards the driver side fender. Make another 90* bend at the end of the bracket (closest to the drivers side fender, pointing upwards) and put a notch somehow right in the middle (wizzwheel) so you can utilize the orginal rubber washers and adjuster off the 12A cable. Adjust and you're done. I had to make the bracket twice before I got the length right so the cable wasn't too tight or had too much play. I can take pics if this doesn't make sense.

I heard it's not healthy for a rotary to run w/open exhaust ports... Like I said I heard... don't know how much truth it holds.

Ummm...What year engine is that? Its an 80 in your sig, but its got a water/oil cooler? Those were only in 83-85 non SE's. Also, it has the external voltage regulator (I think), and it looks like its even got the shorter 3 core raditor...Im confused, lol.
