how to set the idle

my carburator is a 4 bbl and i need to set my idle. how do i do this? i only can find one set screw and i think it is the mixture screw. im confused please help. thanks

What year is your car? In early models there are two mixture sccrews and an idle adjustment. In 81 and up only one. On my 83 the idle srew is a inch or two to the right and below the mixture screw. I don't have a pic to post on it maybe someone else does.

mine is an 83 gsl. i can see one in the center and i couldnt find any others. do you know the settings for it?

all right. the one in the middle is your air/fuel mixture screw. if your car is runnin good, don't mess with it. the idle is on the right, right under the linkage. stock carbs no fun to get to let alone see. but look at where your throttle cable goes to the linkage, the screw will be on the left side of the cable. another thing you can do is to change the position of the cable its self. there is a bracket that the cable fastens to by two bolts. you can adjust those bolts and have your cable tighter. if you don't know that you need to raise the idle, i would do that first. just adjust it to where it stays at an idle and see where the rpm's are. you can always reposition the cable fairly easy if it needsw to be. but for the most part i would look hard for that idle screw( if you have one, it may have fallen out) and do that way.

what is wrong anyways? does it not keep idle, does it idle low,
