How to rebuild rear brake calipers?
Ok i did the search, found nothing, now i need some help --> As it says above in the subject I need your help if you can to tell me how to rebuild my rear calipers... My rear brakes are always on and its not my ebrake so i got them checked out and the guy said calipers are screwed so I ordered a rebuild kit from Mazdatrix and I just got it today.. and there are no instructions.. so i was wondering if you knew how to rebuild them or could gimme some pointers or something..
Doing a constant brake torque is really not cool.
thanks

i feel your pain ... and it happened to me once. i chose to buy new calipers (they weren't THAT much).
anyway, i don't know what is included in a rebuild kit, so i won't be able to tell you what to do. at the very LEAST ... i'd say you should get the piston and barrel polished before they are installed ... BUUUUUT ... let me make a humble suggestion, and obviously the decision is ALL yours ... i know i'm not your wife or mother.
but if no one is around to actually help you out with this, and you are totally clueless, you might not want to go on this endeavor by yourself. i mean, learning the "hard way" that you screwed up something with your braking system is probably the last thing you want to do ... Rx-7 or any other car for that matter.
just my .02!

Apparently the rear calipers are a real bitch to rebuild because of the hand-brake and require some special tools. This is what I was told when asking about this at a few shops. The fronts on the other hand can be rebuilt quite easily at home.

damn, so u are saying that 3 guys without knowledge are gonna struggle ... i was hoping not.. I have a couple of the required tools i think. but i will see... all it requires is new hardware which I have, replacing it, lubing, making sure its all clean and functional, and then putting my new pads on.. I have a haynes manual, so i will stick to it for the handbrake part.. and i guess I will be cautious as I need my car and only have hours instead of days as down time to fix... thanks guys... any other tips would be great.

rear caliper rebuild
Just checked the FSM and it calls for 3 special tools to remove the "conical spring". The tools are: "valve spring lifter arm", "spring compressor" and "removing plate".
After reviewing this I would definitely recommend that you have a manual prior to starting this.
