My bro's GSL-SE sometimes wouldn't open them. He didn't test his car's power as often as he should have (red line a day, and so on), which probably led to this condition. Anyway, I can remember him telling me that his car felt like an extra rotor would kick-in from time to time. I assume those were the times the ports were actually opening for him.

Put greese on the port rods, heavy amount. Take it for a very hard ride. Open the hood and look at the rods. If the greese is pushed to the side, then they are working. Very easy test.

I've had my GSL-SE for a little over a year and I don't think they have ever worked. The front port was turning freely and the rear is totally stuck which I broke the rod trying to free it up. The first couple months I've owned the car, I would feel some extra HP's kick in around 5,000 RPM and it had to be coming from the front port. Now the tube from the convertor has broke off so even the front isn't working. The car still accelerates pretty well with them stuck closed. The main difference I see is loss of power 5,000-6,000 rpm range in 5th gear. Anyways, I have a new lower intake manifold on the way and I'll be tearing it down to get everything working again and may tap the airpump for the actuators.
